The Power of the Cubicle

Note, this is going to draw from my extensive research on this subject... after looking at Wikipedia. I am, after all, a serious researcher.

The term "cubicle" and the history of isolating human beings have two very different meanings and yet they converged in the late 1960s to form what we now call "a cubicle."

In an effort to increase human effort—and corporate productivity—evil men created foamed walls of fabric and plastic. (Later, the father of the cubicle, Robert Propst, would comment that his creation heralded "monolithic insanity" onto the human race.)

So where are we today? We see visions in the movies of open spaces with desks and happy employees. We imagine ourselves in upper-management, having our own corner office.

The reality is an office furniture-industrial complex that designs its products to fail after seven years.
