Washington Wizards Open House

So last night me and A-Dawg and his other half (aka his little bro) went to the open house event for the Washington Wizards. I didn't realize until an hour or so before the event that I had actually been to one of these events before when I was a lot younger. The Wizards have basically changed their entire look for the team -- so they have new jerseys, a new logo, and a new court in the making. Yes, they have gotten rid of that ridiculous Wizard logo. Their new colors are red, white, and blue (how appropriate) and I would describe their new logo as an enhancement of the logo the Washington Bullets had. Here, why don't you just take a look for yourself. Not too shabby right?

Anyways, so before we stopped at this lovely event, we decided to make a pit stop at this bar in Tenleytown. It was actually a pretty sweet place -- I think that's because they had like a bazillion flat screen TV screens on every channel of ESPN. Definitely my kind of place. I kept it simple with the food and I ordered myself a basket of french fries. Real french fries, none of this sweet potato french fry bullshit. A-Dawg not only munched away at the BBQ wings, but he hooked himself up with some mini hamburgers. Yay mini burgers! So cute and adorable right? Wrong! They aren't so cute when you reach your limit after 3 burgers and have to force the last little buddy down, which is exactly what A-Dawg had to do. He was then in excruciating pain the rest of the night making uncontrollable fart noises. I think about half way through I couldn't tell if he was fake farting or farting for real.

So once we arrive at the arena we decide to hit up the team store and look at the new gear they had. Their new gear consisted of T-Shirts that didn't even have the new logo. LAME! The only thing even remotely close to celebrating this new look was their hats, and honestly who wears hats these days. The best part about being in the store was that the security guard guarding the new knew me! Hahahaha he was like "oh do you go to AU?" - "I've seen you at the basketball games." I guess that makes me famous right? So we struck conversation for like 5 minutes while A-Dawg and his bro basically abandoned me to look at merchandise. Now when I think about it, is it weird that I'm friends with security guards? I mean practically say hi to all the ones that work the games at school, and I even recognized one at a DC United game. Awkward.

Once inside the arena, people were basically allowed to roam free on the floor and wait in long lines to either get autographs from old men, take pictures with Georghe Muresan, take pictures with the championship trophy, and then get more autographs from either John Wall or Jordan Crawford. The first thing we decide to do is take a picture with the trophy since it's all shiny and what not, and we like shiny objects. Kind of looks like A-Dawg's brother is awkwardly just standing there.

After that we basically just ran wild like little children. I then wanted to take a picture with a giant inflated T-Shirt. How many opportunities do you have to take a picture with a giant t-shirt!? Those moments are quite rare so you have to take advantage of them. After that we found out that Jordan Crawford had come out to sign autographs so we decided to wait in line for his signature. And after A-Dawg and I basically just obsessed over his sexy picture.

After that we found out that John Wall had made his way onto the court, so we decided we had to add his autograph to our collection of autographs (which was two). We waited in line for his signature for about 10-15 minutes. Definitely not worth the wait since he didn't even make eye-contact with me as he signed the picture. At least with Jordan Crawford I got to shake his hand a strike up a mini conversation. What a great guy. John Wall -- not so much.

Overall, the night was a success. On the drive home we enjoyed not only blasting gangster rap music in the car while passing families and their children, but we also randomly yelled obscenities out the window to people walking down the street. Fun times. Here are the rest of the pictures from last night.
