What Tanky Cublicle Means for Me, Myself and I

It was a sunny morning in 2011 when it was suggested that Tiana and I create a blog. (A bit of history here for you kids: the term "blog" was first used in May 1999. Wikipedia says so, so it must be true.)

Anyway, we decided to undertake this most important of tasks: believing we are interesting enough for people to want to log onto the interwebs and read. Like, use their eyes. Or whatever.

After much discussion, prayer and more talking, we decided to name is "Tanky Cubicle." Tiana was the first to suggest that as the name. Hearing that phrase filled my ears with joy. And cleaned out the wax.

We collaborated on the layout. After a few minutes, we agreed that we would finish it later. I believe this is an example of our working, professional relationship from here on out.

Here is a picture of a sheep:

But, dear reader, you must be asking yourself two things:

  1. What does “Tanky Cubicle” mean and
  2. Why am I still reading this?

The latter is between you and your god. I can't help you there. But I can thank you for bumping up pageviews. That's fantastic.

As for the former, to me it means just what it says: Tanky. Cubicle.

I have always thought and used the term tanky as in the sense it refers to getting "tanked." Searching urbandictionary.com suggests a whole other meaning that I'm not at all comfortable with and not-at-all what I had in mind when I heard the term. Now it's forever been tainted. But life goes on. And I'm a warrior.

Cubicle brings to mind my cubicles over the years: various temp jobs in Chicago and Albany. My first full-time cubicle in a basement. Said cubicle getting flooded due to negligence. Moving to a new office space and finally having a window spot. Getting a new job and a brand-new cubicle with big, beautiful windows. Taking another job and having a view of the women's bathroom.

So cubicle has a negative association that is bad.

My point is that there is none and tanky cubicle is what you want to make of it. Warning: if you urban dictionary it, you might be disturbed, which is why I won't link to it.

Until next time, America!
